Once a tin mining town, Han Chin Pet Soo Museum is a Ipoh attraction you shouldn't miss. This is a place where you can learn more about the history of tin mining in Ipoh. This first Hakka tin mining museum is definitely suitable for history buffs.
Founded in 1893, the building first started with 2-storey and now expanded to 3-storey. You get to know about tin mining in the past and the daily life of the Hakka settlers in the area during the early stage. Besides, opium dens and gambling halls are commonly associated with the tin-mining industry. You get to know more about it too.

You get to see display collectibles and photographs from the 19th and 20th centuries. Free guided tours are available to let you know more about the past. Entrance is free but you can make a donation for the purpose of maintaining the museum. Remember to make a booking before visiting.

Gua Tempurung is one of the most popular and longest caves in Malaysia. It is definitely a place for caving enthusiasts to visit. Enjoy the amazing view of rock formations in the cave. You can also find narrow river passages and huge chambers.

Just next to Han Chin Pet Soo Museum, you can visit Ho Yan Hor Museum at the same time. Ho Yan Hor is a popular local drink that many locals love to drink. This Chinese herbal drink is also popular in Singapore and Thailand.
It is said that the founder invented the drink to help the poor Chinese tin miners in Ipoh. It slowly became a trusted and well-known brand. The museum is actually the founder’s former residence. They converted the museum to let the public know more about the journey of Ho Yan Hor through photographs. It takes you down a memory lane. Besides, there are also displays of tea-related equipment.

If you want to do some shopping but not in a shopping mall, consider hanging out at Kong Heng Square. At Kong Heng Square, you can forget about all those branded items. It is the best place to support local artisanal products and handicrafts.
